Privacy Policy

This page describes how eCourtDate, Inc. ("eCourtDate", "we") handles data in the eCourtDate Electronic Warrants API (the "API") and on this documentation site. It supplements the eCourtDate privacy policy, which governs the eCourtDate platform as a whole.

This documentation site​

This site is a static, read-only site. It has no sign-in, no forms, and no advertising, and it serves all fonts and scripts from its own domain. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to serve and secure the site.

Data the API processes​

The API processes the data your agency submits in order to run the warrant workflow: the contents of warrant applications, the attachments filed with them, the templates they are built from, the members of your agency, and the audit trail of what was done. Applications routinely carry personal data about people who are not users of the service, including clinical detail and allegations.

eCourtDate processes this data on behalf of your agency and uses it only to provide the service. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising, and it is never used to train models.

Requests are authenticated with API keys scoped to a single agency, and every agency's records are isolated from every other agency's.

Retention​

  • Warrant applications and attachments: retained until your agency deletes them, subject to the retention rules that apply to court records in your jurisdiction. Deleting an application removes it and its attachments.
  • Audit entries: retained even when the resources they describe are deleted. The record that a warrant existed and who acted on it is what makes an audit trail worth having.

Security​

All API traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS, and warrant contents, signatures, and the personal data inside them are encrypted at rest. Access is controlled by API keys with per-key scopes, issued and activated for your agency by eCourtDate, and every write is attributed to a named person. Contact your eCourtDate representative to rotate or revoke a key.
